My name is Carol Lisherness and I am a born and raised Texan although my roots lie in Havana, Cuba. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising. I started my modeling career during my senior year of college and it blossomed when I moved back home to Houston. Some of my most memorable experiences are from modeling: I have had the opportunity to fly a small plane, swim with dolphins, zip line through jungles, and rappel down waterfalls. I have traveled to both Cancun, Mexico, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico representing Havana, Cuba for Swimsuit USA International Model Search.
I am a newlywed; my husband is a proud US Airman for the United States Air Force. We are moving to Northern California this year, where I am looking to expand my modeling and promotions career. In my spare time when I am not modeling or working promotions for various big-name companies, I like to read and work on arts and crafts.
What were you doing five minutes before this interview? Booking photoshoots.
What made you want to pursue a modeling career instead of any other career? On a day to day basis, I am not a girly girl: I don’t wear a lot of makeup or dress up. I am also clumsy and a little socially awkward; it’s fun portraying a model in photos! I like to see what I am capable of! People are so surprised when they find out what I do!
What do you feel that separates you from other models that are in the game right now? I am all-natural, and I am super proud of that. My hair is real, no extensions, I don’t wear fake eyelashes, or have any cosmetic surgery. All I do is wear a little makeup and then shoot!
Where have you made appearances? (video, print, etc) I have been in a couple of music videos: Nolan Michael “Alone” and From Guts To Glory “Drive Me Crazy”
I have been featured in several magazines: Health & Fitness Sports Magazine, Houston Press, Blitz Weekly, The Alcalde, Vette Vues Magazine, Sun Herald, Siren Women’s Magazine, Emvee Magz, and on the Cover of JMG. I have also been featured on several online profiles: TMR Zoo, COED Magazine’s Miss COED, The Chive, BroBible, Maxim’s Hot Pic at Noon, GuySpeed, and Guyism. And I made an appearance on King of the Grill on Discovery Channel.
Out of all the work you’ve done so far, which was your favorite video or photoshoot? I learn so much from each and every experience, and I do so many shoots that it is hard to pick a favorite!
When do you feel most beautiful? I feel the most beautiful when I’m spending a lazy day with my husband, with no makeup on.
What’s the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night? The first thing I do in the morning is drink coffee and the last thing I do at night is to check my social media.
What makes you laugh uncontrollably? Modern Family and Big Bang Theory! 2 of my favorite TV shows!
What do you do to de-stress after a bad day? Lay on the couch and watch tv or work on my crafts!
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re with your friends? Just hang out and girl talk!
What inspired your passion for modeling? Probably the Victoria’s Secret Angels!
What excites & motivates you about modeling? Improvement drives me. I want to get better and better and more creative with each shoot! Practice makes perfect!
What does your career do for you? My career, believe it or not, builds confidence! It can if you focus on yourself and stop comparing your beauty to the beauty of others.
What has been your best fashion look? What was your biggest fashion mistake? Timeless fashion I think is best. When you start getting too trendy with clothes, those images can’t easily transfer from year to year. I like images that will not only look good right now but maybe 10 years from now.
What’s your beauty regime? Eating wholesome and healthy, and all-natural home remedies! I am always trying new home remedies that I find online! Beauty starts with what you put into your body. I don’t smoke and rarely drink. When I do choose to drink, I like red wine.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in? I’d have to say swimwear. At least that’s what my fans seem to like!
What are your least favorites? To be 100% honest, Halloween costumes! Lingerie is also something I try to stay away from. If both are not done right, it can look very tacky. Tasteful lingerie images, though, seem to be another fan favorite!
Any ultimate goal to fulfill as a model? I would LOVE to be world-famous. I also want my images to live on well after I decide to stop modeling; I just want to be remembered when all is said and done.
How do you see yourself progress in this field? I hope to keep working years from now. The only way to progress is to practice and practice and practice: never stop shooting! Every shoot may offer an opportunity to not only learn but maybe meet someone new who can help you out!
What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future? I would love to dabble in high fashion or very crazy conceptual shoots. Those can get expensive!
Tell me something about your city, your favorite hang out spots there? What do you like to do for fun & entertainment? I live on the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi at the moment. The sunsets are absolutely gorgeous. But my favorite hangout spot? My couch!!
Do you eat nutritiously? Yes. And that is very important. Nutrition, I think, is 80% of looking great. I focus on eating clean: as little processed foods and no artificial sweets. But complete deprivation will lead to total failure; I’m just as guilty of indulging in cravings as anybody!
What is your perfect day, morning through to night? A day filled with photo shoots and promo work! If not, then a lazy day at home on my couch in front of the tv or with a good book!
Excluding all complicated beauty & fitness mantra, what do you think to be the easiest way to look pretty and glamorous? Don’t try too hard. When you start caking on the makeup and pretending to be someone you’re not, it gets ugly and embarrassing. Embrace who you are and live that person to the fullest. There are so many people out there, someone will find your special quirks attractive!
