Hi 🙂 My name is Jody Marie and I am 23 years old. My birthday is on March 15th. I grew and lived in two very quiet towns in Ohio one which had under 500 people population. I attended an all-girls private high school and college as well. I focused on my studies and was able to graduate a year early in 2011 with three honor cords and set out for my journeys in California. I graduated with a BA in Fashion Design and Business. As of this month January 2014 it would complete my two years of living in Southern California! The adventures I have been on to San Francisco, San Diego, Palm Springs, Monterey Bay, All the beaches and much more. I have picked up a hobby out here which is Muay Thai Boxing and have been doing that for 9 months now. I began modeling with one of my friends, just going to her shoots with her and getting thrown in. After seeing how awesome the shots turned out, I decided to give it a shot. Working FT and modeling I have found myself very excited for 2014. I have been in one music video which is being released soon and will be participating in another one this month. I would have regretted every day if I did not move away from home to fulfill my dreams 🙂
Describe yourself in three words. Jody Marie: True, inspiring, goal-oriented.
How would you describe your personality? Jody Marie: I am a very honest person. I am loving to all of those around me. I am a firm believer do to others as you would want to be done to yourself. I am very well-mannered (which is not common nowadays).
How would you describe your professional interests? Jody Marie: I am a business professional. I have a high interest in anything that has to do with a business structure. I love learning new traits to better my self professionally.
Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in this Career? Jody Marie: I am interested in modeling ever since I started fashion school in 2008. I believe it is a true art, especially when you are working with fantastic photographers. I want to work as a model because of all the opportunities you have to show off your best qualities as well as the fabric, the accessory. It is a lot of fun, it is like playing dress-up in your 20’s 🙂
What languages do you speak? Jody Marie: English, a little bit of Spanish – currently learning.
What’s your background in modeling? Jody Marie: I have done volunteer runway shows back when I lived in Ohio. I started modeling in California after being an escort for one of my friends and getting thrown in the shoot. After seeing the pictures come out, I knew this is something I can succeed in.
If you could change three things about yourself, what would they be? Jody Marie: My perfectionism, my over trusting heart, my selfishness to travel the world.
Who are some of your favorite models and designers? Jody Marie: I love the models who are proud to be in their own skin. I have been told many times that I am a “plus-size model”. I have always been in love with Betsey Johnson-the clothing line is so unique, one of a kind. My inspiration would be my hard-working friend Barbara Desiree – she has worked so hard this year and built her fan base to over 200K and has been featured in many magazines!
How would you describe your style? Consider anything and everything from color to historical eras and more. Jody Marie: I shop at goodwill and thrift shops, I never pay full price for anything. I absolutely love unique styles. I am not one side or the other. Some days I will dress 80’s, next I would dress very modern. Some of my favorite colors to wear are Teal, Pink, and Black. Most of my daily wardrobe is dress clothes, I rarely wear jeans anymore. I love outfits that are too big and give lots of motion.
What are your strengths? And what are your weaknesses? Jody Marie: My strengths are my mindset, my goal-oriented outlook, my high energy, hope. My weaknesses are being a perfectionist and over-organized. Sometimes I spend more time making my schedule perfect than doing something else I need.
Where do you generally shop? Jody Marie: Goodwill, Thrift shops, Forever 21, and reflections shoe store. I never buy anything full price, I love going into goodwill and coming out with 3 bags of clothes for $20.00!!!
What other modeling projects have you done? Jody Marie: I have been painted, music videos, magazine submissions, catalog, and websites.
What kind of modeling are you interested in and why? Jody Marie: Fitness and High Fashion. First off, I love being fit. I am a gluten-free vegan and take great care of my body. I hike 2 X a week and do Muay Thai Boxing. I think fitness modeling is a big thing now because the fit is in, not being thin. I think being fit shows people how strong you are. As far as high fashion, what can you expect from a Fashion Major? 🙂
Do you have any other experience in the fashion industry (like writing photography etc.)? Jody Marie: Blogging, photography, visual display, and design, pattern making, runway production, costume creating, sketching, storyboards.
How would you describe working with the photographer? Jody Marie: I love working with different photographers. I spend 5-10 minutes talking to them before the shoot to see what they are looking for so I can execute that. I absolutely love modeling for the fact that its a team, not just the model looking beautiful but I have had some photographers go above and beyond to get the PERFECT shot. Once you start shooting and you get a sense of their style, there is no stopping you!
What makes a stylish woman or man? Is there a difference? Jody Marie: Just having a clean appearance, looking sharp.
How would you describe the photographer’s style? Jody Marie: I have worked with many photographers and everyone has something else that they are looking for. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, like everyone. If you had 10 different photographers doing the same photoshoot they would all look different. Some like your chin up, some like your chin down.
Who are some of your favorite fashion photographers? Jody Marie: Alice Hawkins, Alessandro Dal Buoni, that is hard to say, because I love and appreciate all photographers and photography!
Do you do your own hair and make-up? Jody Marie: I do yes, on occasion they will have a makeup artist, but normally I do my own. In all pictures attached I have done my own hair and makeup.
What are some of the main differences between runway and photographic modeling? Jody Marie: Height. I would love to do runway. Unfortunately being 5’4 highly disqualifies me!
What’s your favorite outfit from your own closet? Jody Marie: I love my tight black dress pants with my overly large sweater. So cute and comfy.
Describe the atmosphere when you’re on a shoot? Jody Marie: I like to create a fun environment. I am always up for trying something new. It is a very fast pace and always positive vibes.
Why would you think you’re fit for being a model? Jody Marie: I believe I am. Even though I am 5’4, I have very long legs and have been told by many photographers that people won’t believe I am 5’4 from my pictures. I have a very unique look and I believe that I have what it takes!
Do you have any limitations? Jody Marie: I do not do nudes, lingerie, or implied. It is not something I am interested in doing. I have the body for it, don’t get me wrong but that is not the direction I am going for. Most women nowadays jump right into that, but I want to try something different.
Describe the ideal work environment for you. Jody Marie: Fun, Easy, High Energy, and snacks 😉
What are your likes and dislikes? Jody Marie: I dislike people being late and do not take care of their precious bodies, it annoys me more than anything.
Is there anything else you’d like to add? Jody Marie: I have an older sister who is just as beautiful as I am, I am very close to my family and it kills me being 3,000 miles away.
