Sabrina Watts: Story & Interview

I’m Sabrina Jane Watts popularly known as Sab. I’m a Fil-American Supermodel, Former Beauty Queen, and Media Personality. I’m the only child of my parents. I was raised in Arizona USA by a Filipina mother (Business Woman) and a Black American father (US Marines). Every year I and my family would visit the Philippines for a vacation. We loved everything about the Philippines, the peaceful lifestyle, and hospitable people. So I decided to move to the Philippines (the Year of 2008) to have a new start in my life. Modeling came to me all by chance.

I began modeling in the 12th grade. My career segued first by an invitation to watch a Fashion Show. Later on that night I was discovered to be part of the “MODEL WORLD”. Within my first week in the modeling industry, I was booked for 25 shows. I had done extensive projects and runway work for fashion/advertising giants, such as Fashion Week Philippines & Singapore, Prada, Dolce & Gabanna, and Sister Company of Victoria’s Secret. I also appeared in International advertisements for Exclusive High Fashion Magazines such as Preview Magazine, Mega Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and Metro Magazine. I was the first Fil-American woman on the cover page spread of Preview Magazine and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in the Philippines. I received a distinction for Supermodel of the Year. And that same year, I became the first-ever Fil-American chosen for one of the tops of the line project runways. I stayed in the Philippines for 5 years. Now in Adelaide, South Australia 🙂

What languages do you speak? English – Tagalog – Spanish fluently and currently learning French, Chinese, Japanese

How would you describe your personality? I’m very straight toward which means I don’t care if it’s harsh it’s pretty much just being honest in the most respectful and nicest way sometimes. I’m loving to those who love me back. I can be quiet cheeky and sarcastic like a smart ass In a humorous way. And I could be forgiving to those who have done me wrong but never think anything less of them.

How would you describe your style? Can you sum up your style in three words? Simple and classy and a bit of sexy in between. Simplicity is the best in the wardrobe.

Most memorable shoot would have to be with this famous photographer in Dubai who flew all the way to the Philippines to work with me and have me published in “first look magazine” which was a new release fashion magazine in Dubai. I felt very honored and well-respected felt very important knowing how keen this photographer was to work with me and being impressed by the previous jobs I’ve done.

What do you think, Is it important to attended fashion modeling courses? Do they really help newbies to get a foothold in the Fashion Industry? I would say based on my experienced I didn’t go attend fashion school. I had to learn from watching others that were way ahead of me till I got to the point that I was (being humble) way above them in a short amount of time. Do you have any limitations? Would you model any kind of clothing at all? My work is quality so I don’t limit anything below that and I do not do any nude shots (that’s probably why I had to decline playboy Asia twice in a row) it’s just not my type of tea.

What are your strengths? And what are your weaknesses? My strength is that I am very headstrong and independent. My weakness is that I’m very forgiving and caring.
