Skully: Story & Interview

My name is Skully. I’m a 24-year-old alternative model from Ohio and have been modeling for about 2 years now. I started off wanting to just do a little bit of modeling here and there but ended up making it a career. I started getting messages from women telling me they were inspired by my work, and that’s really what kept me going. I’ve had a lot of support from my family consisting of my boyfriend and my 2 sons.

What were you doing five minutes before this interview? Skully: Sitting on my couch thinking about getting pizza for dinner.

What made you want to pursue a modeling career instead of any other career? Skully: I liked modeling as a hobby but what really made me want to make a career out of it was all the positive feedback I received from fans and photographers.

What do you feel that separates you from other models that are in the game right now? Skully: A lot of models pick one type of modeling (glamour, lingerie, implied, etc.) and they stick with it. To me, that is great because you get really good at one type of modeling, but you never get the chance to see if you might be good at a different type. I am very diverse. I do anything from casual/glamour to lingerie, I’ve even done some horror-themed shoots!

Where have you made appearances? (video, print, etc) Skully: Visual Artistry Magazine, FIxeMagazine, TAT-The Awesome Threat, Out of all the work you’ve done so far, which was your favorite video or photoshoot? My favorite video was called “a.m” by Gooey Movies because it was very simple but it turned out amazing! My favorite photoshoot to date would probably have to be my shoot with C. Mirene because not only was it something so different, but when I saw the images I was blown away!

What does your career do for you? Skully: It gives me an escape. Just like some people write or make music, I get to get out of reality for a little while.

Is there anything else you want to do outside of modeling? Skully: Be a great mom and girlfriend… That’s really my only other goal right now, but my most important.

When do you feel most beautiful? Skully: I feel most beautiful when I have no makeup on, my hair is slightly messy, and I walk past the mirror and think, “Wow! I don’t look half bad!”

What’s the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night? Skully: The first thing I do in the morning is to wake up and look at these flowers that my boyfriend got me months ago. They are dead, but still so beautiful! At the end of the night, I lay in bed and check my phone.

What makes you laugh uncontrollably? Skully: Being tickled, or inside jokes.

What do you do to de-stress after a bad day? Skully: I love taking hot baths and reading a book or listening to music.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re with your friends? Skully: Make memories by being goofy! I also like listening to music and shouting the words at the top of our lungs!

What inspired your passion for modeling? Skully: Honestly, Radeo Suicide. I remember seeing photos of her and thinking “Wow! What A woman!” I loved her personality as well when I saw little video clips of her being quirky.

What excites & motivates you about modeling? Skully: I love getting messages from ladies saying “I admire your work and I would love to do what you do!” I always encourage them to go for it! Because just like anyone else with a career they worked hard for, they can do it if they put their mind to it! I love that I make people want to pursue their dreams.

What has been your best fashion look? What was your biggest fashion mistake? Skully: My best look is probably the casual look, tight skinny jeans, and a jacket. My biggest fashion mistake was when I attempted dreads with short hair. Oh, they were terrible!!

What’s your beauty regime? Skully: I don’t really have one. I just do whatever I feel like that day. It seems to work out.

What are your favorite types of outfits to model in? Skully: I like doing shoots in boy shorts and tank tops. Or lingerie.

What are your least favorites? Skully: I hate girly little dresses, mostly because it’s not “me” at all. Don’t get me wrong, I still will sometimes enjoy a nice dress shoot, but it just feels weird.

Any ultimate goal to fulfill as a model? Skully: My current goal is to get on a magazine cover. Then I want to publish a book of my work.

What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future? Skully: I’ve done a lot of casual and glamour work, but I want to go from cutesy and quirky shoots to sexy and feminine. Maybe more lingerie.

Tell me something about your city, your favorite hang out spots there? What do you like to do for fun & entertainment? Skully: The downtown area is gorgeous. Maybe not to everyone, but to the artistic community, it’s awesome. Also, We like to hang out at Claddagh. It’s this Irish pub and restaurant that has bands play occasionally. I really love going to shows and watching local bands grow from playing in garages to playing big stages.

Do you eat nutritiously? Tell me about the diet you follow on a regular basis? Skully: I eat what I want when I want. I know models will cringe reading that but I really do. I love food!

Excluding all complicated beauty & fitness mantra what do you think to be the easiest way to look pretty and glamorous? Skully: Get plenty of rest, and let your personality shine rather than caking on makeup!

Where netizens can find the latest news feed about you? Skully: I have about every site out there. Www.facebook.com/Skullyyo www.instagram.com/Skullyyo are my favorites.

One question out from the fashion world: Can you cook? If yes then what’s your favorite recipe? Skully: I can somewhat! I love making classics like homemade chicken noodle soup or sweet and sour meatballs.

Your ultimate message for netizens? Skully: If you want something bad enough, you CAN make it happen with hard work. Don’t ever give up!
