Gina Perkins: Story & Interview

I am a 36-year-old model from WA State. I started modeling when I was 32 years old. Although my age is older in comparison to most aspiring models I have been very blessed with success in the industry. Modeling is something I decided to get into after participating in the South Sound Wedding show where I discovered how much I like to dress up and look pretty in front of the camera. When I am not modeling I am a pretty down to earth plain Jane that does not wear makeup so modeling is a creative outlet for me. I have met and worked with some great people along this journey and I feel blessed.

Describe yourself in three words. Happy, Trusting, Caring.

How would you describe your personality? I have a laid back easy-going personality, I am able to get along with most people and adapt to changes fairly easily.

Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in this Career? I only work part-time as a model, I do it because it is a passion of mine, I love being in front of the camera and working with creative people.

What languages do you speak? Only English.

What’s your background in modeling? I have over 3 years of experience in the field, I have worked for several major fitness companies as well as local retailers.

Do you want to change anything about yourself? Absolutely nothing!

How would you describe working with the photographer? Most photographers are awesome and easy to work with, then again, I am able to adapt to most personality types.

What makes a stylish lady or man? Is there a difference? Well-groomed equals stylish in my book, it’s not always about name brand clothing, one must first take care of themselves to be stylish.

What are some of the main differences between the runway and photographic modeling? The runway is hard because you are in front of a room full of people and you have to show the garment in the best possible way whereas photographic modeling allows feedback from the photographer about what needs to change to make a better image.

What’s your favorite outfit from your own closet? My Miss Me Jeans with a blazer and leather booties.

Describe the atmosphere when you’re on a shoot? Fun!

Why would you think you’re fit for being a model? Yes, I think I have enough of a different look to make it in the industry.
